GHD's Environmental Assessment and Approvals Group is primarily based out of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), with team members in a number of offices. The Group primarily focuses on leading Environmental Assessments, carrying out stakeholder engagement and consultation programs, and coordinating environmental permits and approvals for a range of infrastructure, transportation, and waste management projects.
We are looking for a well-rounded, enthusiastic and organized individual with previous project experience.
Reporting to a Senior Environmental Planner, the successful incumbent will complete tasks including the following:
•Conducting policy research
•Drafting letters and Notices for public circulation and coordinating mail out of correspondence
•Drafting response letters to review agencies
•Leading proposal writing for new projects
•Leading report compilation and drafting text for summary documents
•Helping with coordination of Open Houses for public consultation
•Creating display panels for public meetings
•Creating PowerPoint presentations for public meetings
•Reviewing sub-consultants reports and cross-referencing to policy and legislation guidelines
•Attending meetings as required and preparing meeting minutes or reports
Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
•A post-secondary education in environmental planning, environmental policy, environmental science, or a related discipline
•3-7 years project experience in a variety of sectors (municipal infrastructure, transportation, waste, energy)
•Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work well with people (staff and clients) and a demeanor that reflects genuine interest and ability to assess a situation and consider what people will be interested in/concerned with is required.
•Fluency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project Powerpoint)
•Strong time management and organizational skills
•Familiarity with Provincial and Federal Environmental Assessment legislation
•Experience in transportation planning would be an asset
•Class G driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
