Commodities, Buyer - 1 year contract position

The incumbent will be responsible for liaising with operations managers, suppliers and our outsourcing partner to purchase commodities to ensure smooth and efficient flow of supplies at the Samuel Service Center facilities in Ontario.

Major Responsibilities:

•    Maintain maintenance files and ensure they are kept up to date
•    Create purchase orders and distribute to the proper vendors
•    Maintain a PO system to keep track of past and current orders
•    Issues a monthly on hand and costing report of all commodities stock items
•    Analyze invoices for accuracy
•    Code and stamp invoices with appropriate approver and send out to AP
•    Match packing slips to purchase orders when parts or service is received 
•    Purchase and maintain inventory of commodities 
•    Purchase parts and repair services as required
•    Check commodities levels using min/max on a daily basis
•    Pick up parts when required
•    Send out daily request for quotes(RFQ)
•    Work with supervisor to get best price
•    Maintain contact with vendors
•    Enter daily activity reports for maintenance team using Manager Plus
•    Create and maintain PM schedules 
•    Prepare month end reports
•    Work with Quality Assurance Department regarding instrument calibration, keeping them and the related records up to date
•    Assist supervisor and foreman when needed
•    Other duties as assigned 

•    High School diploma required. Diploma or certificate in supply chain an asset

•    At least two years of relevant experience or commodity expertise within Mill/Service Center environment

•    Proficient in MS Office
•    Good organization and time management skills as well as the ability to meet deadlines
•    Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
•    Data driven with good analytical skills; able to generate a reports and process data that forms the basis for solid decision making
•    Possess the ability to work with minimum supervision
