Associate Vice-President, Indigenous Engagement & Partnerships

Are you a passionate change-maker and highly collaborative academic, focused on
Canadian Indigenous domains? Reporting to the President, and as a member of the
University leadership team, you will chart Yukon University’s path in the continued
development of partnerships with Yukon First Nations, while building engagement on
Indigenization and Reconciliation within. You understand the value of research at Yukon
University, as it relates to Indigenization and Reconciliation, and you’re enthusiastic about
supporting its development.

You’ll lead a team of passionate employees, determined to make the Yukon a better place
through their delivery of capacity development programming and Yukon First Nation
awareness training. You’re a leader with a passion for building strong relationships with
First Nations and building bridges between Yukon University and Yukon First Nations
governments at all levels. You see your role as a connector and developer.

As a YukonU booster, you’ll promote and celebrate the creative and innovative work being
done at the University across the Yukon, the North, Canada and internationally, with the
intent of forging strong partnerships. Within all levels of government, on matters relating
to Indigenization and Reconciliation, you’ll serve at the University’s liaison, in partnership
with the Executive Director, Governance and External.

As the ideal candidate, you have completed a PhD focused on Canadian Indigenous
domains. You’re a seasoned leader with a minimum of five years’ senior level management
experience and you possess an extensive knowledge of Yukon First Nations agreements
and governance structures. You are a patient, diplomatic team player. You understand that
change takes time. You listen intently and communicate thoughtfully. You’re a builder and
you’re excited about the potential post-secondary education provides to individuals.
