Senior Software Development Manager

This role will serve as a senior US IT Sr Software Development Manager for The Phoenix Group ("TPG") business unit with US TS. The position is accountable for the development, delivery and support of applications used by TPG associates and partners , both US and Canada TPG. This position reports directly to the US IT Director of Applications Services.

Position Summary:

  • Responsible of the business relationship with TPG and developing system strategies that align with the business objectives.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of software development and providing application solutions include system support, development, testing and deployment (SDLC)
  • Manages development and business analyst team which would typically consists of both experienced professionals and supervisors/managers.
  • Designs, develops, tests, debugs and implements operating systems components, software tools, business applications and utilities. Determines systems software design requirements.
  • Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency.
  • Generates systems software engineering policies, standards and procedures.
  • Focus on quality systems and process improvement driving continuous improvement objectives and more efficient operations as scale
  • Responsible for reporting department performance metrics to senior leadership

What you bring to the role :

  • Manages subordinate professional staff, may manage lower level associates through Supervisor/Manager.
  • Involved in day-to-day activities where their acquired expertise and knowledge provide direction to subordinates.
  • Focus on policy and strategy implementation of operational plans. Will recommend and implement departmental specific procedures.
  • Able to solve p roblems that may be difficult to moderately complex.
  • Influences other outside of own job area regarding policies, process and procedures.
  • Works toward objectives established by upper levels of management. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Latitude to make decisions to achieve goals.
  • Provide input in defining operation plans and strategies. Provides input into strategic decisions that impact functional area of responsibility.
  • Uses interpersonal skills to influence customers, suppliers and other comparable level managers.
  • Comfortable working directly with internal and external stakeholders to determine and develop enhancements.
  • Strong communication skills including experience working with senior executive management to effect change

Education/Experience:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, information systems or similar disciples
  • Minimum 2 years functional experience including a minimum of 8 years position specific experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years supervisory experience preferably managing through subordinate managers.
  • Mastery over subject area, ability to make significant contributions to the company
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills required
  • Experience in managing to consensus with teams and stakeholders (prioritization, budget, requirements)
  • Experience working in an Agile environment and administering Project Management (Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, etc ) tools a plus
  • Possible post COVID travel may be required
  • Comfortable working directly with internal and external stakeholders to determine and develop enhancements.
  • Strong communication skills including experience working with senior executive management to effect change
  • Demonstrated success leading multiple cross-functional teams required
  • Experience in system integration, migration and consolidation related to M&A activity a plus
