Inuit Health Professionals Wanted for Travel Assignments in Nunavut

About the role:

Calian hires Registered Nurses, Psychiatric Nurses, Practical Nurses and Midwives who provide medical care to 25 different communities across Nunavut. These roles can range from Community Health Nurses, Home Care Nurses, Public Health Nurses, Emergency Room Nurses, TB Nurses, Registered Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Midwives and more.


As we strive to provide the best possible care to residents of Nunavut, we know that cultural awareness, cultural competency and an ability for a patient and healthcare professional to relate to each other can help augment the care received by patients.


With that in mind, Calian is asking Nurses and Midwives who identify as Inuk to apply to work with Calian in Nunavut.


Flights are provided from cities all across Canada and within Nunavut at no cost to you. Accommodations are also provided at no cost to you. A daily non-taxable northern living allowance is provided to you regardless of where you live. We offer generous hourly compensation as well as the potential to earn stand by and call back pay.


Assignments are generally six weeks long and multiple assignments are available throughout the year. Take assignments based on your availability.



The qualifications:

  • Must be eligible for license in your profession in Nunavut – if you are not already licensed in Nunavut Calian can help guide you through the licensing process
  • Depending on the role, a range of certifications are required. Apply today to learn more about additional qualifications
  • Inuktut communications skills would be considered an asset



While Calian is open to all qualified applicants, due to the nature of this contract, Calian is actively seeking applicants that identify as Inuit. Those candidates that are Inuit are asked to self identify as part of the application process.
