Sweet Home Sanitation, a Waste Connections Company is looking for a High Energy Scale House Cashier/Customer Service Representative to join the team in Sweet Home, Oregon. Previous waste experience would be a huge plus!

A typical schedule for this position is Tuesday-Saturday from 8:00am-4:30pm Competitive Wage!

The Customer Service Representative (CSR) fields calls from Customers and works to resolve problems they raise concerning service or billing. A successful CSR must understand the Waste Connections business, so they can resolve various types of customer issues. Customer Service Representatives must show empathy or sensitivity to the customer regarding the issue at hand.

Scale House Cashier Duties and Responsibilities:

Greet and direct all customers and employees upon entry of the transfer station.

Weighing trucks in and out and calculating payments for customers.

Track weight information from scale to computer system and get appropriate signatures.

Ensuring that incoming garbage loads are safe and do not contain any inappropriate material.

Work on your feet outside throughout your shift

Answers phone in a professional and enthusiastic fashion.

Performs full clerical and general office duties.

Assisting with office duties, filing and paperwork as needed.

Ensuring that customers and employees conduct all business in a safe manner and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Providing general upkeep of the Scale House.

Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate a high degree of tact, discretion and diplomacy.

Customer Service Duties and Responsibilities:

Work in conjunction with other departments to resolve customer disputes & demonstrate the ability to become proficient in the use of proprietary operational systems.

Interviews customers and records interview information into computer for customer service, talks with customers by phone and in person, to receive orders for installation, turn on, discontinuance, or change in service.

Fills out contract forms, determines charges for service requested, collects deposits, prepares change of address records and issues discontinuance orders.

Demonstrate effective use of software applications, at a minimum MS Word and Excel proficient.

Delivers services to customers in a manner that promotes goodwill. Interacts with customers and Waste Connections employees to determine service requirements and resolve problems or complaints in a courteous manner

Work in a fast paced, cooperative, high call volume environment with very detailed expectations

Solicit sale of new or additional services.

Assist in other areas as needed

The ideal candidate will possess:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Excellent customer service skills

On-the-job computer use/data entry

Ability to multi-task

Ability to stand throughout an 8-hour shift

Ability to work outside in all weather conditions

Ability to climb, bend, and stoop to inspect containers.

Good computer skills.

Proficiency in both English and Spanish.

Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

Prior cash handling experience required.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Cash Handling (Processing Credit/Debit Cards, Counting back cash)
Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English.
2+ years of Customer Service experience in a high call volume atmosphere.
Experience with MS Word, Excel, and Email preferred. Typing and 10-key skills are required.
Excellent organization and communication skills.
Ability to analyze and solve problems. Gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.

Knowledge of waste industry is preferred.
