Golder has a new full-time opportunity within our team for a Principal Tailings Engineer, based in Sydney or Newcastle. The role includes technical direction of tailings design studies and related analyses. This will include providing recommendations in area of tailings and mine waste management to clients while delivering best practice consulting services. You will provide technical expertise and guidance including budgeting and quality control for tailings, mine waste, heap leach and similar assignments.

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical direction of tailings design studies and related analyses.
  • Liaising with specialists from other disciplines or offices within Golder.
  • Delivering best practice consulting services to clients in Australia and overseas.
  • Providing recommendations in area of tailings and mine waste management to clients.
  • Maintaining effective client relationships and generate consulting business.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring for staff in the regional team and reviewing their project work.
  • Providing senior technical input to project teams and ensuring that appropriate technical standards are developed and maintained.
  • Building and maintaining business networks.
  • Leading multi-disciplinary project teams on local, regional and international consulting assignments; and
  • Project managing, budgeting and quality control for tailings, mine waste, heap leach and similar assignments.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
  • Bachelor-Degree in Civil/ Mining Engineering or equivalent
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing, presentations and stakeholder management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a creative and focused approach.
  • Access to local industry knowledge and contacts.
  • Ability to work independently and within multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Demonstrable commitment and proactive approach to health and safety culture and providing high quality service
