The College of Pharmacists of British Columbia is the provincial regulatory authority for the profession of pharmacy in British Columbia, licensing and regulating pharmacists and pharmacy technicians and the places where they practice. It is a vital link in the chain of trust that connects patients, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, and as such, is accountable to the public. The mission of the College is to regulate the pharmacy profession in the public interest. The College sets and enforces standards and promotes best practices for the delivery of pharmacy care in British Columbia. Diversity and Inclusion is a priority at the College and it has publicly stated that it needs to take specific actions to promote and address these issues and to support the health professionals they regulate to do the same.

The Registrar acts as the Chief Executive Officer of the College and leads the College organization and staff. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the appointed Registrar & CEO will provide overall strategic and operational leadership to the College in developing strategic plans to advance its mission and objectives, provide advice on policy and promote positive relations with stakeholders. Leading a staff of 67, the Registrar will work to gain the support of the profession across British Columbia and build relationships with other regulatory bodies and professional associations in Canada, government stakeholders and key organizations to ensure that the profession of pharmacy adapts and thrives in a rapidly changing healthcare environment. This is an opportunity to serve the public while at the same time making a significant contribution to the profession of pharmacy and health care in general through a time of significant change.

The successful candidate is a strategic leader with a strong record of change management and relationship building in organizations that have parallels to the scale, scope, and complexity of the responsibilities of the College. Experience could have been gained in a related regulatory body, healthcare, academia, government or other public sector agency among others. A highly skilled communicator, the ideal candidate is credible in front of any audience and has the maturity and presence to develop consensus and partnerships across a diverse group of stakeholders and constituents.
