Director, Student Services

Job Description

Under the overall direction of the Vice President Academic, the Director of Student Services oversees the planning, development and delivery of all student services and supports, including Student Accessibility Services, Tutoring Services, Testing Services, Counseling Services as well as both the Student Success Advisors and Indigenous Student Navigators. The Director’s primary focus is to ensure students are receiving access to the supports they need to be successful as well as to ensure the College’s retention strategy is achieved.

Education

  • Post graduate degree (e.g. Masters) or equivalent;
  • Entrepreneurial, business and/or managerial leadership ability with the capacity todevelop financial budgets, allocate resources and author effective proposals, businessplans and reports; and
  • Experience with Indigenous and non-Indigenous counseling servicesis an asset

Field(s) of Study

Social work, counselling or a related field.

Experience

Minimum of seven (7) years experience

Type of Experience

  • Minimum 7 years related experience in increasingly responsible roles;
  • Minimum of 5 years leadership and management experience, with a preference of atleast 2 of those years in a post-secondary educational institution and within a unionized environment;
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to learning / service excellence and quality education preferably in an applied post-secondary setting;
  • Demonstrated understanding of student engagement for the purpose of achieving student success;
  • Demonstrated understanding of the value and practice of alternate learning strategies; and 
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of financial management systems
