EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Tl’azt’en Nation is located northwest of Fort St. James, British Columbia.  It seeks an Executive Director.  This position provides a positive working environment aligned with the culture and values of the Tl’azt’en Nation and all related human resources legislation and regulations.  The Executive Director carries out the policies mandated by Chief and Council to achieve and sustains its vision for the community.

The Executive Director is responsible for the successful leadership and general management of the organization, management of all programs and departments, setting goals and measuring the achievement of the organization’s objectives. As a skilled administrator who is a positive role model, the Executive Director works with Chief and Council to focus on establishing effective working relationships with community groups, funding agencies, and other external contacts. The Executive Director leads a multi-faceted team of staff who are tasked with health, natural resources, land management, fisheries, education, public works, ranching, emergency management, housing, social development, finance, and other specialty areas. This is a full-time position reporting to Chief and Council.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business Administration, finance, Aboriginal Studies or related field or a combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of related leadership experience, ideally in a management role for a First Nations organization, with responsibility for the following areas: financial management, budgeting, human resources management, program management, delivery and evaluation, policy development and implementation
    • Knowledge of financial and reporting requirements (i.e., ISC requirements).
    • Knowledge and experience in human resources and financial management, and governance procedures.
