The Forensic Science Program in the department of Anthropology at the University of Toronto Mississauga, invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in the area of Forensic Genomics. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor with a start date of July 1, 2022, or shortly thereafter.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Forensic Biology with an emphasis in large-scale-omics data computation and interpretation by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter. The successful candidate must have demonstrated excellence in both teaching and research in Forensic Genomics. Evidence of excellence in teaching will be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, strong letters of reference and the teaching dossier (with required materials outlined below) submitted as part of the application. Excellence in research in the area of Forensic Genomics will demonstrated by a record of sustained contributions and publications in top-ranked and field-relevant academic journals, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements by referees of high standing. The successful applicant must also have a proven record of professional forensic involvement as demonstrated by casework, court testimony, applied research, laboratory experience, or similar practices. The successful applicant will be expected to develop and maintain an active, innovative, externally funded program of research and to contribute to the education and training of undergraduate students as well as graduate students enrolled in the tri-campus University of Toronto Graduate Program. Collaborations with tri-campus departments such as Molecular Genetics, Cell and Systems Biology, Psychiatry, Medicine and Computer Science are encouraged. Cross appointment at the graduate level to a relevant cognate department will be pursued upon hiring.
