UBC Okanagan is seeking a Managing Director of Human Resources to lead our hardworking team of HR professionals.

Job Summary:

The Managing Director, Human Resources is responsible for the strategic leadership of human resources at UBC Okanagan (UBCO) in alignment with institutional goals, purposes and priorities. As a trusted advisor to the Deputy Vice Chancellor and Principal and a member of the senior leadership team at UBCO, this role contributes to the overall leadership of UBCO in support of its exciting 2040 Outlook, which includes ambitious student and faculty growth plans.

The Managing Director is a key leader who builds positive relationships with all stakeholders and leads best practices and continuous change across all HR functions, in collaboration with key HR partners across the UBC system. This includes labour, faculty and employee relations, recruiting, talent management and development, workplace learning and engagement, health and wellbeing and disability management.

The Managing Director leads a team of highly skilled HR professionals and continually assesses the organizational needs of the campus, recommending and leading implementation of strategies that will improve HR and campus operations and performance. This individual will work closely with central HR services at UBC Vancouver to build high quality programs for the UBCO campus and institution at large

To be successful in this exciting role, the Managing Director, HR will be a proven strategic business partner and human resources practice leader of 12 years or more with extensive experience in stewarding the human resource function of large, sophisticated organizations which are undergoing growth and change. The Managing Director, HR will demonstrate both the ability to think strategically and implement actions to move complex issues forward in pragmatic and sustainable ways.
