Reporting to the Associate Director, International, the Coordinator, International Agreements and Partnerships resides in the Office of the Associate Vice-Principal (International), referred to as the Office of the AVP (I). This role supports the international strategy for Queen’s University by managing the establishment and processing of academic mobility agreements, and serving as an internal liaison with units across campus and as an external liaison with international partner universities and selected organizations. The Coordinator also assists with the development and implementation of large international events and programs on campus. 

Please note that this position may include some domestic and international travel. The schedule for this position may occasionally require the incumbent to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.  


  • With oversight from the Associate Director, work to ensure the implementation of university-wide strategic projects led by the Office of the AVP (I).  Manage and coordinate projects, set clear timelines and expectations for project goals and outcomes. Prepare budgets and conduct financial administration for these projects as required. Liaise and follow up with project participants.
  • Manage the establishment and renewal of academic mobility agreements between the university and international partner institutions. Draft, edit, finalize, and proofread agreements. Identify barriers to efficiencies in the process and work with stakeholders to resolve. Administer and manage the contract management system, tracking agreements for renewal and retention in accordance with the Queen’s Record Management Policy.
  • Negotiate changes in language for agreement renewals with partnering institutions and determine the appropriateness of the changes in consultation with the Faculty International Offices, Associate Deans, or Deans, as appropriate. Liaise with legal counsel to ensure contracts are in compliance with legal requirements. Initiate and/or prepare correspondence to partners.
  • Monitor legislation and institutional policies surrounding academic mobility, and update processes to meet obligations. Communicate obligations to stakeholders across the university, and co-ordinate process updates where appropriate.
  • Support the Associate Director in facilitating the university’s participation in the Matariki Network of Universities (MNU), and other pan-university strategic partnership initiatives. Develop concepts for on-campus MNU events, facilitate Queen’s participation in MNU activities abroad and bilateral partnership arrangements, and complete information requests from MNU Secretariat.
  • Maintain and strengthen connections with selected Queen’s networks in support of the university’s international objectives.
  • Provide support on strategy, evaluation and implementation of large international on-campus events and activities.
  • Participate in and/or co-ordinate working groups on behalf of the AVP (I) when required, and in support of the academic goals and objectives of the AVP (I) portfolio and the university. Act as the delegate of the AVP (I) on working groups as required.
  • Conduct research and prepare reports, summaries, correspondence, policy revisions, and other short and long term planning documents as required. 
  • Undertake other duties and support other projects as required.


  • University degree.
  • Demonstrated excellence in project management.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, demonstrating sensitivity to cultural differences. Proven commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in past work experience.
  • Possession, or willingness to obtain, a valid passport.
  • Experience with reviewing and analyzing policy and legislation for implications for business processes would be an asset.
  • Experience in the development of contracts would be an asset.
  • Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • High level of competency in computer skills (MS Office and internet). Ability to learn to use and administer document management software and databases.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Some knowledge of language(s) other than English (e.g., French, Spanish, Mandarin) is an asset.


  • Make recommendations regarding the establishment and renewal of academic mobility agreements. Identify, manage and address issues arising in the contract process.
  • Prioritize own work to meet expectations and conflicting deadlines.
  • Determine accurate responses to inquires of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide advice, support and recommendations on issues related to agreements, partnerships and events.
  • Determine content/substance of reports, briefing notes, and communications for a variety of audiences.
  • Determine the content of correspondence for own signature or signature of AVP (I).
