Participation in community and charitable events. ** Please note: Eligibility for benefits offered is based on employment status ** MANAGER, CAPITAL PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION POSITION SUMMARY: The Manager Capital Improvement – Lower Mainland, plans and coordinates the delivery of maintenance, repair and capital improvement projects for BC Housing & PRHC properties in the Lower Mainland area. The position also acts as liaison and resource person to BC Housing management and staff on various technical and non-technical building repair and renovation issues. The incumbent manages the activities and performance of consultants and supervises a staff of several Project Technologists, a Construction Project Manager and a Admin Coordinator. CANDIDATE PROFILE The successful candidate will have the following: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Applied technology diploma in architecture, engineering, building technology or related field from a recognized technical college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Considerable program and project management experience in the delivery of comprehensive maintenance, repair and capital improvement programs for multiple unit residential buildings. Experience in program planning and financial management. Experience in supervising a team of staff. Experience in a public sector social housing environment preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Considerable knowledge of the programs, practices and processes associated with the maintenance, repair and capital improvement of buildings and grounds Working knowledge and understanding of the Commission’s programs and operating requirements Considerable knowledge of building technology and Federal, Provincial and Municipal codes Considerable knowledge of supervisory practices Ability to plan and manage the implementation of program activities, analyze and solve issues and make effective decisions Ability to assess the modernization and improvement requirements of properties and provide recommendations for capital improvement planning purposes Effective leadership, communication and interpersonal skills Effective negotiation, conflict resolution, problem solving and project management skills Ability to lead, coach and motivate staff in a team setting.
