An incredible opportunity exists for a senior transformational Human Resources professional to help evolve the organizational design, structure and services of the Central Human Resources Portfolio at UBC. The Managing Director leads a professional HR team, focused on advisory services, employee and labour relations (including collective bargaining), HR professional standards and an internal recruitment agency function. UBC is engaged in a multi-year journey to transform its academic and administrative support processes and system environments for the entire UBC community including the implementation of a new Human Capital Management system through Workday. A time of renewal, reporting directly to the Vice-President of Human Resources, the Managing Director will be tasked with collaboratively and confidently leading the transformation towards excellence in HR partnerships, services and standards through phases of transformation of processes and transition towards a new service delivery model and leverage the investment in Workday.

The ideal candidate possesses superior leadership acumen and a truly strategic focus when implementing HR best practices. Focused on optimizing HR’s role as a true partner throughout the organization, the Managing Director is a champion of recognizing efficiencies and evolving service delivery models. The Managing Director is seen as a polished, collaborative and engaging professional who conveys confidence that HR is attentive and service-focused. The Managing Director will be critical thinker who brings a customer service orientation with proven ability in transforming the effectiveness and efficiencies of shared service delivery within an organization. With at least 10 -15 years of progressively senior leadership of central advisory services and governance of employee and labour relations in a large, complex unionized environment, the Managing Director will bring a solid track record of organizational transformation and vibrant creativity. Experience in a university environment would be an asset.
