Purpose of Role:

Day to day co-ordination of the Raw Material Receiving laboratory in line with global standards and monitoring regimes, while respecting the laboratory budget

Principal Accountabilities:

This position may include any of the following accountabilities:

  • Day to day co-ordination of the Raw Material Receiving laboratory in line with global standards and monitoring regimes, while respecting the laboratory budget
  • Escalate non-conforming raw materials to Q&FS manager and other appropriate parties.
  • Lead and/or participate in root cause investigations.
  • Ensure conformance to all legal and legislative requirements including support during audits and inspections
  • Manage the metrology of equipment in the Raw Material Receiving laboratory and Extrusion room
  • Conduct inventory and order supplies for the Raw Material Receiving laboratory
  • Coordinate Ring Test participation and performance
  • Participate in the raw material cycle count inventory as required
  • Manage the raw material and finished product retained sample room
  • Collection, preparation, coordination, and dispatching of samples to required RC laboratories and external laboratories for relevant analysis
  • Utilize laboratory computer software to provide data on historical raw material receptions to various departments and as part of traceability team.
  • Liaise with Q & FS Manager, Flow team, Commercial team and SQA team to ensure good communication and relationships with raw material suppliers
  • Support continuous improvement of the Raw Material Receiving laboratory and RM Reception
  • Develop and improve all internal interdepartmental relations and external stakeholders
  • Updating management on Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
  • Perform area-related equipment first level maintenance
  • As required, identify, approve and/or put on hold the reception of goods according to reception procedures
  • Perform audit to external warehouse to ensure that samples are taken according to SOP
  • Perform internal audits per MGS
  • Manage plant Environment, health and safety within RM receiving & Laboratory Department
  • Provide with the QFS manager updated recipes into Supervision and Navision software
  • Provide receiving documentation to finance to ensure timely payment.
  • Any task as delegated by Manager


  • Ensure proper housekeeping of the lab & the warehouse is done on a daily basis
  • Perform 5 S audits
  • Perform operational cleaning operations
  • Any task as delegated by Manager


  • Guarantee and apply ISO 9001, 22000, 170025, Mars Standards, and all related working procedures
  • Support  the HACCP program in the department
  • Follow GMP-GHP in the area
  • Inform Shift Supervisor of quality deviations according to product standards and production procedures
  • Maintain CCPs and oPrP’s in the department, if applicable.
  • Perform the CCP and oPrP’s procedure according to SOPs, if applicable.
  • Report any pest activity to related Manager
  • Detect and report raw material quality problems during the stock period
  • Ensure all quality checks at receiving of Raw Materials
  • Any task as delegated by Manager

Key Functional Skills/Knowledge:

  • Previous experience as a laboratory coordinator or team leader, preferably in a food/feed plant laboratory 
  • Good communication skills to liaise internally and externally, as well as to assist in motivating, training, and improving the Raw Material Receiving team
  • Technically inclined with computer skills
  • Unrestricted range of motion, self-motivated, initiative, team player, color discrimination, odor sensitive and texture perception, depth perception, safety & hygiene & quality conscious

Desired Education:

  • University education in food science, chemistry, laboratory recommended
