Indigenous Healing and Medicine Coordinator

Shifts: Days/Evenings including weekends

Reporting to the Director, the Indigenous Healing and Medicine Coordinator is responsible for coordinating access to Traditional Healers, Elders and Knowledge Keepers, providing Indigenous healing through the coordination of ceremonies, access to Indigenous medicine and cultural programming, and creating cultural knowledge exchange and translation in a safe and welcoming environment. The Indigenous Healing and Medicine Coordinator will serve across St. Joseph's Care Group, role modeling Indigenous values and promoting quality client-centered care through spiritual and cultural services for Indigenous clients. 

Qualifications:


- An individual who is of Indigenous ancestry with an in-depth understanding of Indigenous culture and tradition, worldview, history, ceremonies, and language
- Minimum five (5) years experience working with Indigenous people in the health or social service field
- Experience and knowledge of medicines, traditional healing, ceremonies and cultural teachings
- Experience working with Elders, Traditional Healers and Knowledge Keepers
- Degree or diploma in social services, Indigenous studies, or a related field

- Superior ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing
- Ability to deliver presentations to a variety of audiences
- Ability to establish effective and collaborative working relationships with a variety of stakeholders including community partners within the Indigenous community
- Ability to support the multi-faith context
- Ability to think and act strategically in a health care sector environment, including the ability to conceptualize and implement change strategies
- Excellent organization and time management skills; strong project management
- Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated computer proficiency including skills with MS Office applications
- Competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Will be required to travel to various work locations, providing own transportation
- Ability to speak Ojibwe or Oji-Cree is preferred
