Working within the Customer Service department, the SAP data expert is responsible for creating, maintaining and administering the SAP material master data, ensuring total accuracy and correct part set-up. The role involves creating, extending and maintaining all elements of material master data within SAP, within agreed time lines to ensure availability of accurate data for internal stakeholders. The role involves data input, process improvement, data extraction and data cleansing.
A matrix managed role with a requirement to build strong collaborative networks with key stakeholders to ensure good communication and prioritization of work. Required to work closely with Product Management and Customer Service. Analyses new requests, understands problems, determines approach, and coordinates activities between departments to ensure correct material master set-up. Liaising with relevant business units to validate the integrity of the information.
The SAP data expert is responsible for data verification, creation, review, change and extensions of SAP material master records. An independent individual contributor who has an exceptional eye for detail and an affiliation for working with large volumes of data on SAP. Proficient in working with data, not only inputting and manipulating, but understanding the business processes and links with other business systems such as the Portal.
An essential part of the role is continuing review and improvements of the master data function. Including documentation of processes and user guides.
- Create, extend and maintain material master data in SAP. Responsible for ensuring total accuracy and correct part set-up. Part set-up to meet product launch and project timelines.
- Review, improve and document processes. Update process and user guide reviews following each system enhancement or yearly as a minimum to ensure accuracy, relevance and best practice
- SAP testing and UAT for system enhancements
- Monthly housekeeping of master data to maintain and improve accuracy and quality of existing material part data
- Resolve issues and queries raised by internal stakeholders, escalating where necessary
Key Skills and Competencies required:
- Knowledge of SAP would be beneficial
- Experience in Material data management and data administration
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience in a matric managed organization
