    PURPOSE OF POSITION:
    The incumbent works in an entry-level capacity; The engineer will participate, as designated, in processes that may include the design, development, testing and related operations essential in the production of the mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronic and hydraulic systems supporting the manufacture, sale and service of aerial devices, digger derricks and other specialty equipment comprising the Company's product line

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design the electrical and hydraulic systems for the customer specific aerial mounted application
  • Create and maintain the electrical and hydraulic schematics, specifying the interface parameters for chassis controller integration
  • Create and detail bill of materials to specify requirements for the build
  • Provide final assembly support for the customer specific design as well as field support once the application is delivered to the end customer
  • Opportunity to be involved with the growth of our mild hybrid applications in our aerial utility offerings
  • Team oriented and open to continuous improvement efforts
  • Using standard operating procedures, established engineering processes and basic calculations, successfully complete in an efficient and timely manner routine engineering assignments that may include research, testing, design and development
  • Develop the ability and demonstrate the initiative, to complete tasks in a manner requiring less direct and immediate supervision that would be required in the initial phases of the Associate Engineer's employment
  • Apply engineering procedures and calculations to develop solutions to problems requiring some minor level of innovation
  • With technical guidance from more senior engineers, gather and evaluate engineering data in order to apply knowledge to relevant assignments
  • Interact in an effective and appropriate manner with other Altec personnel and customer representatives, as appropriate, in order to complete projects and assignments
  • Develop the skills necessary to become an Engineer
  • All other duties as assigned
  • EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required, Mechanical Engineer or Electrical Engineer preferred
  • EIT registration or ability to obtain registration required
  • Good analytical, verbal and written skills required
  • Current valid Driver's License
  • Microsoft Office Suite and other office management applications required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work with team members and work with minimal supervision
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time, potentially on short notice, which may include flying.

  • The job level is able to be adjusted at time of hire, if the candidate meets the qualifications for jobs of a more experienced level in the career path.
