Front End Process Engineering Manager

Job Summary:

FLIR is vertically integrated and develops and manufactures cutting-edge, semiconductor-based sensors. We are looking for the person to lead and manage our process engineering team.  The team helps us maintain our competitive edge by making sure that we have the world-class, well-running processes. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Works with team to establish clear process ownership and to develop SMART goals. Aligns skills with needs. Sets priorities for the team.  Develops employees and manages performance. Manages and balances employee workload.
  • Proactively identifies and analyzes problems, plans, tasks, and solutions.
  • Works with Engineering and Production teams to define and execute short and long-term capital equipment plan to meet capability and capacity requirements
  • Assures clear definition of equipment specifications and acceptance tests
  • Supports Product Life-Cycle Management process for smooth transitioning from development to production.  Team’s work product in line with ISO 9001 requirements and FLIR PLM process.
    • Works with engineering to transfer new processes into manufacturing
    • Develops and maintains work instructions and supporting material to train others as needed.
  • Contributes to improvements in business processes
  • Supports Equipment Engineering by providing guidance on equipment operation and required periodic maintenance

Initiative:   Displays strong personal initiative and motivation to achieve desired performance results.

Continuous Learning :  Spends time and energy to learn new approaches, tools, and methodologies to stay abreast and move ahead in position/field.

Decision Making & Problem Solving:   When faced with individual or multi-faceted problems, consistently identifies, and evaluates alternatives, risks, and consequences prior to making decisions.  Uses analytical problem-solving techniques (i.e. Six Sigma, KT) to ensure objective, fact-based root cause and corrective action assessment.

Knowledge and Experience in the following required:

  • Must have a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD Degree in Engineering, Science or related field.

Job Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of hands on experience in semiconductor technology / processing in development or manufacturing
  • At least 5 years of direct experience leading and managing teams.
  • SPC implementation and reporting
  • PFMEA and Control Plan development
  • Continuous Improvement Processes (Kaizen)
  • Experience with structured problem solving: 
  • ISO 9001 process and procedures
  • Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.
