There is an immediate opportunity in our Fixturing & Calibration department for a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Operator/Fixture Designer.  This is a new position to Altec as we look to improve our fixture design and verification.  This individual will be responsible for working closely with our experienced fixture building team to help design, model, manufacture, and calibrate the fixtures used in production. This associate will also be responsible for developing and implementing design standards and best practices for fixture design and manufacture. 

The successful candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with focused detail orientation. This individual will be motivated, goal-oriented and persistent, able to work independently with a high level of initiative while also working well in a team environment.  Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks to meet required deadlines while also ensuring quality work.

    The job level is able to be adjusted at time of hire, if the candidate meets the qualifications for jobs of a more experienced level in the career path.



    • Associates degree in Engineering Technology or related discipline required; Bachelors preferred
      • Will consider applicants anticipating graduation in December 2019 or May 2020
    • Experience with general fabrication and machining equipment preferred
    • Background with metrology preferred
    • Solidworks experience preferred
    • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) experience preferred
    • Ability to obtain weld certification preferred



    • Operation and programming of Coordinate Measuring Machine
    • Design and draft production fixtures
    • Establish best practices and standards for fixture design
    • Assist in fabrication of fixtures
    • Train production associates on use and care for fixtures
    • Provide production support, utilizing other technical personnel as needed
    • Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives
    • Travel 0-25%
