Project Manager, Health Data and Strategic Partnerships

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director, Health Data and Strategic Partnerships, the Project Manager will ensure the coordination of Vector health AI strategic development plans and projects, including data governance and repository-related activities, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to advance discussions, plans, and completion of project deliverables.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Planning and project management of Health Data and Strategic Partnerships portfolio initiatives:
• Propose health AI projects or collaborations based on specific strategic themes;
• Project plan creation, engagement with project stakeholders (industry sponsors, health data partners), identifying and managing project risks, and milestone tracking; and,
• Recruit and coordinate project participants.

• Planning and project management of activities related to data strategy, governance, and partnerships, including support for data stewardship and health data management associated with Vector’s data repositories and collaborations.
• Work with Health team members, technical staff, and industry sponsors to assess the feasibility of potential projects or collaborations from a strategic perspective;
• Develop use cases and pilot projects in collaboration with Vector Researchers, industry sponsors, and health stakeholders to facilitate the development of new algorithms and methodologies;
• Act as a liaison between Health team members, other Vector work stream leaders, researchers, and health sector stakeholders by relaying information and ensuring transparency;
• Develop processes and methods to share knowledge among project participants;
• Capture project success stories that can be used for knowledge translation and public relations;
• Prepare reporting as required for industry sponsors, senior management, and the Board of Directors;
• Provide support and insight on stakeholder to the Industry Innovation and Health teams, as required;
• Other related duties as assigned.

KEY SUCCESS MEASURES

• Vector achieves its goals for its health stakeholder and industry sponsor relationships;
• The Vector Health team achieves its annual targets; and,
• Internal and external stakeholder feedback is such that the Vector Health team provides high-quality service and support through effective working relationships.

PROFILE OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Holds, at minimum, a university degree in a business, health, technical, or related field.
• A minimum of three (3) years experience managing projects including scoping, planning, implementation, monitoring, and project closure; Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
• Experience on projects that involve sensitive or regulated data, ideally health data, is considered an asset.
• Broader R&D and/or health sector experience is considered an asset.
• Adept at building and effectively managing multi-disciplinary project teams, prioritizing conflicting needs, managing limited resources, handling matters expeditiously, and following through on tasks to successful completion.
• Possesses exceptional verbal and written English communication skills; effective in presenting to a diverse set of stakeholders from the business and technology ecosystem.
• Understands the primary roles of various stakeholder organizations including innovative Ontario organizations, (e.g., OCI, MaRS) and key health sector players, (i.e., major research hospitals, ICES, Health Canada) and their programmes in support of innovation, research, and startups.
• Brings a positive attitude and energy, integrity, a sense of humour, and outlook to a corporate culture, and is motivated by continuous learning and the desire to make a difference and a real contribution to AI.
