Job Summary

Under the direction of the Food Services Manager, the Supervisor Food Services is responsible for the food services operations, management and oversight in a portfolio of golf and marina facilities which includes, but not limited to; BraeBen Golf Course, Lakeview Golf Course, Lakefront Promenade Marina.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises and provides leadership to Food Services administration and food services staff including: training and development, compliance to standards and individual development planning.
  • Direct, coordinates and supervises staff daily work to ensure event schedules, levels of cleanliness, health and safety and maintenance standards are maintained
  • performs full time and part time quarterly staff evaluations and manages performance of staff
  • Develops and implements procedures and standards ensuring compliance to corporate Policies and applicable legislation (s)
  • Develops and monitors annual work plan
  • Prepares and manages current operational and capital budgets; works effectively with external contractors, lease holders and other City departments
  • Leads and participates in divisional and business unit projects, priorities and work task teams
  • Management of bar, concession and quick service menus (selections, costings and menu development)
  • Full cycle inventory management - daily operation, monthly counts, month end financials package preparation
  • Preparing monthly reporting documents
  • Facility cash handling training and compliance
  • Develop and implement revenue sources and cost efficiencies
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Skills and Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Hotel and Resort Administration or Business Administration with 8 years of supervisory or management related food service experience in a multi unit/multi location environment
  • Extensive working knowledge of golf course operations and services, catering and event management, room service and quick service outlets
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently maximize the use of human and financial resources to meet community and department needs
  • Strong understanding of food/beverage and labour and operating costs
  • Strong understanding of menu development and costings
  • Strong interpersonal skills, combined with excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to liaise effectively with the public, elected officials and outside agencies
  • Valid CPR, First Aid Certification
  • Smart Serve training mandatory
  • Food Handlers Certification obtained withing 6 months of hire
  • Health and Safety Certification an asset
  • Previous work experience in municipal government an asset but not required
  • Excellent leadership, planning, organizational, problem solving and time management skills
  • Demonstrated supervisory, leadership and team building skills required
  • Proficiency with Mircrosoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and SAP
  • Excellent knowledge of Silverware POS system, Optimum Control Inventory Module and EZLink POS system
  • Flexible hours and shift work (including evenings and weekends) is required
  • Valid G license and access to a vehicle
