  The Opportunity

In this role you will analyze and validate employer reported pension administration data that is used in providing benefits to members of our Plan – The Teachers of Ontario. As an Associate Member Data Specialist, you will have the opportunity to apply your superior analytical skills in resolving complex reporting issues while building strong relationships with internal business partners, participating employers, and other 3rd party organizations.

Who you’ll work with

As a member of the Employer Relations and Member Information Management department, you will work directly with the Employer Relations (ER) team who support more than 175 (and growing) employers in collecting and validating member data and contributions that are required to administer the Plan. You’ll also work with our Member Experience team in executing benefit transactions with a shared purpose of providing superior client experiences for members.

What you’ll do

Your first few months in the role will be focused on learning while incrementally applying those learnings in day-to-day ER tasks. Over time, and under the supervision of a Senior and/or Team Coordinator, you will:

  • Develop and enhance your knowledge and understanding of pension administration specific to the terms of our Plan
  • Validate employer reported pension administration data by analyzing member service records for accuracy and completeness to enable accurate preparation of benefit calculations
  • Determine sources for complex data discrepancies and employ sound judgement in corrections

  • Assist participating employers in their understanding of their reporting requirements including eligibility, pensionable salary, and other compliance related activities

  • Support participating employers in resolving data issues and reconciling member contributions

  • Assist with special projects and administrative tasks as assigned

What you’ll need

  • Post-secondary education in business administration, mathematics, data analysis or relevant work experience
  • Proven analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve micro and macro level data issues
  • Exceptional time management and prioritization skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in utilizing Microsoft Office tools and systems required for analysis and validation
  • Knowledge of the education sector and Indigenous culture is an asse
