Strategic priorities include: developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs, philosophies, policies, and practices within the areas of human resources (HR) strategy and leadership; labour relations (LR); HR records and systems; organizational structure and workforce planning; recruitment; orientation and onboarding; performance management; coaching and conflict resolution; compensation and benefits; equity, diversity and inclusion; training and development; occupational health and safety; and health and wellness.

With a focus on collaboration, the Vice-President, HR, will build/maintain relationships and communicate with a wide variety of people including other members of the Senior Leadership Team, management, external agency representatives, the Board of Directors, staff, and union representatives.

In the organization’s and HR’s current state of evolution, this position is equal parts strategy and operation.

Among the qualifications being sought in candidates, the incoming leader must have a deep and abiding commitment to advancing reconciliation, equity, diversity, and inclusion in all its forms and must believe, intrinsically, in the importance of leading with curiosity and welcoming ideas that can later be synthesized and turned into possibility. While all candidates are encouraged to apply and, in so doing, share how they see themselves adding value to the RainCity Housing environment, the following credentials and/or experiences are seen as possible markers of the candidates most likely to realize success in the role:

A) Degree in Human Resources or a related discipline.

B) At least 10 years of senior level HR experience, including expertise in labour relations management (specifically investigations, grievances, mediation, and arbitration experience).

C) A robust understanding and grounded practice of justice in the workplace, related specifically to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

D) An understanding of the complexity of service delivery and human resources at the intersection of housing provision, mental health, and addictions.

E) At least 5 years of leadership experience with demonstrated coaching, mentorship, and development expertise.
