Director, Social Impact  

The opportunity Reporting to the Managing Director, Marketing & Communications, the Director, Social Impact will develop and oversee a new global employee giving and volunteerism program and play a key role in shaping and articulating our broader enterprise-wide impact program.

This role requires a seasoned, passionate professional with expertise in the area of environment and/or social impact, excellent analytical, project management, and communications skills and ability to engage with senior leaders and others across a global organization.

Who you'll work with  

You will work with key global partners across the organization and will present to senior leaders including the executive team. You will also identify and manage relationships with non-profit partners.

 What you'll do  

Build and lead a global community engagement program: strategy road map, program development, execution, measurement:

  • Accountable to lead the development and execution of a best-in-class community engagement strategy, comprising: 1) assessment and implementation of an employee-led giving platform and 2) establishment of an annual cross-enterprise, global volunteerism program to engage our teams in meaningful and measurable on-the-ground volunteering in our operating markets of Toronto, London, San Francisco, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Mumbai
  • Identify and embed best practices across program development, internal engagement, and impact measurement, including through ongoing horizon scanning and connectivity with external leaders in the impact space
  • Shape and track against target community impact outcomes
  • Identify, cultivate, and oversee relationships with non profit partners globally
  • Proactively engage with colleagues across the organization to provide strategic guidance and connectivity into our community engagement efforts, impact efforts, including the executive team, broader leadership, employee resource groups and impact champions
  • Develop and manage budget for community engagement activities

Impact strategy coordination

  • Support alignment of impact efforts across how we invest, how we operate, and how we give back/community engagement
  • Play a key role in identifying pressing areas of social inequity in operating markets to inform community engagement strategy
  • Establish a process of aligning, curating and tracking areas of impact focus and progress across the organization, ensuring alignment with fiduciary duty/mission

Impact communications

  • Work with colleagues in Marketing & Communications and Responsible Investing to embed our community engagement programs and outcomes into our disclosures including annual reporting cycle, as well as ongoing communications such at thought leadership and case studies
  • Work with key partners across the organization to develop and enforce strong governance and guidelines in relation to our impact approach and communications

Management accountability

  • Will indirectly lead teams in execution of large-scale communications, events, programs
  • Potential to lead others as global program is further developed and implemented
  • Will develop and manage budget for enterprise-wide employee giving and volunteerism program

Decision making

  • Will oversee strategy and implementation of global employee giving and volunteerism program
  • Will identify and embed standard processes across community impact programming
  • Will shape and track against target community impact outcomes

 

What you'll need  

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in a related field, including sustainability, corporate social responsibility, social impact, philanthropy, communications

 

  • Exemplary project management skills, including multi-faceted employee engagement/event execution
  • Partnership management skills, ideally with experience in engaging with non-profit partners
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Superior interpersonal skills and ability to present to management and all levels of the organization
  • 10+ years of direct experience in social responsibility/impact and/or management consulting expertise in these areas, ideally in financial services or similar fast-paced, complex environment.
  • Analytical self-starter who enjoys completing in-depth research and engaging across partner groups to build conviction and distill complex ideas into focused, cogent recommendations
  • Experience in determining impact measurement, evaluation and reporting in a corporate setting an asset
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office suite, with a focus on PowerPoint and Excel
  • Global experience an asset
