What can I expect to do in this role?

 

• Monitor and ensure compliance with policy and legislation for elementary and secondary school-level education
• Ensure ongoing accountability by school boards for standards of education
• Monitor, assess, and report on the effectiveness of the school system and the implementation of ministry policy and programs as related to Indigenous Education
• Participate on regional/provincial committees and task forces
• Promote and support ministry initiatives to First Nation, Métis and Inuit partners.

How do I qualify?

 

Mandatory

 

You are a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.

 

Education Knowledge

 

• You understand the principles, standards and practices at Ontario elementary and secondary school levels, current and emerging education issues, programs and curriculum to provide interpretation and guidance to school boards and schools.
• You can acquire knowledge of the role and objectives of the Indigenous Education Office to monitor program implementation and effectiveness of the Province's school system.

 

Interpersonal, Stakeholder Management and Issues Management Skills

 

• You have well-developed interpersonal, stakeholder management and issues management skills to investigate and anticipate outcomes of new/revised policies and programs, identify issues surrounding various education communities (e.g., French-language education community, First Nation, Métis and Inuit Education partners) and collaborate with senior board officials.

 

Communication and Leadership Skills

 

• You possess effective oral and written communication skills to prepare and present reports, recommendations, and consult with various groups in education, including First Nation, Métis and Inuit partners and school board partners, to facilitate input into policies, guidelines and initiatives.
• You have demonstrated leadership skills and professionalism to demonstrate authority and credibility when representing the ministry to schools, school boards and the public.

 

Analytical and Research Skills

 

• You have analytical and research skills to assess compliance and ensure accountability of school boards with established education standards and make evidence-based recommendations.
• You can assess the effectiveness of policies and programs, identify shortfalls and make recommendations for improvement.

 

Salary Range: $1,869.89 - $2,471.85 Per Week

  • 1 Temporary, duration up to 24 months (with possibility of extension), 3300 Bloor St W, Etobicoke, Toronto Region
