Job Details

Reporting to the Dean, Faculty of Law and supporting the Associate Dean, Graduate Studies, Professional Programs and Innovation, the Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies and Professional Programs is part of the Faculty of Law’s Executive Management team. Committed to equity, diversity, inclusion and indigenization, the Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies and Professional Programs provides strategic and operational leadership through the development and implementation of short and long-term plans to ensure that the Faculty of Law continues to build on its reputation for excellence in the delivery of graduate legal education and professional programs. The Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies and Professional Programs also demonstrates an entrepreneurial mindset, including creativity and resourcefulness, required for innovation within existing programs and developing new programs that meet the needs of the evolving legal profession and related markets.

Required Qualifications:

  • University graduate level degree in legal studies, business, education, or policy development. A Juris Doctor (JD) degree is considered an asset.
  • Ten years of related progressively responsible professional experience
  • Demonstrated success in developing, leading, and motivating employees and diverse teams to create and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Experience in strategic planning, policy development, data analysis, report writing, and change management.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including excellent organizational and writing skills, with a proven ability to conceptualize and manage a project through to successful completion.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively. Ability to adapt content, tone, medium and style to audiences to be inclusive.
  • Proven record of business development and relationship building with the ability to work with a wide range of constituents and interest groups.
  • Demonstrated commitment and contribution to fostering and advancing I-EDIAA.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting/budgeting and solid financial acumen.
  • Knowledge and understanding of an academic environment, working with students and overseeing academic and professional programs is considered an asset.
  • Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
