As a senior member of the Facility Services team, the Director, Design and Construction will provide leadership in the overall development and management of the construction and technical services division. This position oversees comprehensive aspects of construction and facilities management and supports the Associate Vice-President on complex capital projects from inception to completion, energy management initiatives, and asset management programs. The Director advises on policies, ensures efficient service delivery, and supports the institution’s green initiatives. The role directs facilities design, construction, and renovations, ensuring technical accuracy, efficiency, customer satisfaction, and compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal regulations. The Director manages project teams, oversees contract procedures and safety, evaluates staff, and prepares project submissions for board review.
The ideal candidate possesses a degree and relevant designations in engineering or architecture. They should have more than 10 years of experience in Design and Construction Management, leading large, complex, and multi-stakeholder construction projects including proven expertise in asset management and project management within a unionized setting. In addition to strong technical skills, the ideal candidate will be passionate about nurturing a cohesive and supportive team and demonstrate trust, respect, accountability, integrity, and teamwork.
