College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
Finance Manager
Dedicated to fostering excellence in early childhood education, as well as upholding ethical and professional standards within the field, the College of Early Childhood Educators (the College) oversees a membership of over 663,000 members. It stands as one of Ontario’s largest self-regulatory bodies and holds the unique distinction of being the sole professional self-regulatory authority for early childhood education in Canada. The membership comprises individuals from diverse backgrounds, mirroring the rich tapestry of children and families they serve. This commitment to diversity is also reflected within the College itself, boasting a dedicated staff of approximately 85 individuals and an operational budget of roughly $11 million. As an equal opportunity employer, the College continually cultivates an inclusive environment where diversity and individual differences are not only embraced but highly valued. Our Commitment to Anti-Racism informs how we work and is embedded in the culture of the College, where we continue to create and strengthen a workplace of inclusion and belonging.
In line with these guiding principles, the college invites nominations and applications for the position of Finance Manager—a role that will contribute to the continued financial health of the organization. The Finance Manager will assume accountability for overseeing the finance and procurement functions of the organization. As a member of the management team, the incumbent will actively contribute to shaping the strategic direction and will drive continuous operational enhancements of the organization by offering sound counsel and progressive thought leadership. The position will entail responsibilities such as managing external audits, generating financial reports, and ensuring that reported outcomes align with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), pertinent legislation, regulations, by-laws, and policies.
Among the qualifications being sought in candidates, the incoming leader must have a deep and abiding commitment to advancing reconciliation, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in all its forms and must believe, intrinsically, in the importance of leading with curiosity and welcoming ideas that can later be synthesized and turned into possibility. While all candidates are encouraged to apply and, in so doing, share how they see themselves adding value to the organization’s environment, the following credentials and/or experiences are required of the candidates most likely to realize success in the role: A) CPA designation and 5 to 7 years of leadership experience in finance; B) strong business acumen and proven financial analytical skills, including the ability to identify risks, opportunities, trends, and relationships; C) proven experience creating financial models from scratch, with vision and tenacity; D) excellent management and team building skills with the ability to work in collaboration to build strong relationships; and, E) an ethos rooted in integrity and ethical acumen.
Compensation
CECE provides a competitive compensation package with group benefits, employer match Group RSP and vacation and wellness days.
How to Apply
The college recognizes the historical and ongoing harm caused by racism, both systemic and overt, against Black people, Indigenous people and People of Color in Canada and around the globe. They firmly believe that all people and all racial groups deserve equity in all areas, including social, economic, and political. Change is necessary to eliminate existing racial inequities, and education plays a critical role in driving that change. Our client is committed to applying anti-racism into all their work. They acknowledge that ongoing effort is necessary to fulfil their responsibility of regulating a diverse profession in the interest of the public in Ontario.
The organization is partnering with BIPOC Executive Search to ensure an applicant list that is diverse and is as intersectional as possible. All interested applicants can send their resume to Christopher Lee or Jason Murray by e-mailing clee@bipocsearch.com.
In accordance with the AODA Act, for applicants living with a disability accommodation will be provided throughout the search process. Should accommodation be required, please make Christopher Lee aware by using the above address.
We thank everyone for their expression of interest—and are truly appreciative of the time individuals put into applying—but with the limitations of time only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
