Teach basic skating skills to participants ranging from grades 3 to 5 through group lessons.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach basic skills through group lessons to participants ranging from grades 3 to 5. Group sizes vary from 20-45participants. Classes are one hour long.
- Ensure the continuing safety of all participants during lessons.
- Work alongside a second instructor to support with supervision and instruction of the program. Ensure the continuing safety of all participants during warmup and cool down portions of the program.
- Fit participants with skates and helmets to ensure proper fit.
- Inspect equipment used in the program on an ongoing basis to ensure that it is safe.
- Ensure meeting course outline and objectives
- Incorporate and model the HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development in program delivery at all times
- Provide quality customer service to participants, parents and volunteers.

Skills and Qualifications
- Junior Bronze Skills as recognized by Skate Canada to have the knowledge to teach and ability to perform the skills in the City of Mississauga Skating Program or equivalent combination of skill and experience in related sport (hockey, ringette, etc).
- Emergency First Aid with CPR B
- HIGH FIVE Principles of Health Child Development (PHCD) or HIGH FIVE Sport
- Light lifting of supplies. Exposure to cold temperatures.
- Level 3Vulnerable Sector Check is required
- Primarily ice rink environment
