Volunteer Opportunity – Public Sector Accounting Board
Are you interested in driving public sector accounting standard setting in Canada? Do you want to help ensure that these standards are set in the public interest?
We need you
Responsible for volunteer appointments, AcSOC is currently looking for candidates such as:
- financial statement users;
- financial statement preparers;
- government not-for-profit sector professionals;
- all levels of government; and
AcSOC maintains a balance of different backgrounds and perspectives amongst PSAB’s members. As a result, we have a particular need for female candidates and those with Government Not-for-Profit experience.
Attributes of all candidates should include:
- a strong public interest perspective;
- the seniority and credibility to be recognized as a “voice” in Canada and, as needed, internationally;
- sufficient time and scheduling flexibility; and
- the ability to work collaboratively to reach a consensus in order to develop high quality standards.

About the role
This demanding but rewarding volunteer role involves the following:
- A minimum time commitment of approximately 130 hours per year, including preparation and meeting time, and potential stakeholder outreach opportunities.
- Currently two video conference meetings per quarter. When conditions permit and travel resumes, a combination of virtual and in-person meetings in Toronto.
- Effective April 1, 2022, for a three-year term, with the possibility of renewing for a second term.
- Unpaid, with travel and other relevant costs reimbursed.
